Travel information to Trento

Aiplane plus train is the suggested combination. You will not need a car to move around in this old Roman/medieval city. Trento station is in the city center, at walking distance (less than 1 mile) from most hotels. Of course, select the optimal airport among the many possibilities depending on your personal preferences between low-cost and vicinity.

The map below has markers about relevant places like the railway station and the Faculty of Science. Zoom in/out to see more details about the location or about its position with respect to Italy and Europe. Simply grab the map to move around. Satellite and hybrid images are available by clicking on the top-right buttons.

By airplane

, (cities connected to Verona)

Innsbruck airport - Austria (108 miles / 175 km)
Bergamo - Orio al Serio (111 miles / 180 km)

By train

Trento is on the main track from Italy to Austria and Germany (via Brenner pass), Verona is the main exchange station if you come from the South, Innsbruck (Austria) and Munich (Germany) if you come from the North.
See Trenitalia (English) for timetables, etc., or Trenitalia (Italian) . Pay attention to the different kinds of train (fast/slow) and the different kinds of ticket (with possible supplements for speed etc.).

By bus from the center

Take bus number 5. It leaves in front of the train station. You can buy tickets at a booth inside the train station or at newspaper stands. Pls note that there are two university-related stops when the bus goes up the hill, the first is at the main Engineering building. Resist the temptation to exit there (you will have a ten minute uphill walk) and exit at the later stop just before the village of Povo (Faculty of Science - Facolta' di Scienze).
Click here for the bus timetables at the train station stop.

By car

Trento can easily be reached from south and north by the freeway number A22 - Autobrennero (exit "Trento centro") . Try to avoid passing through the historic center, it is complicated because of one-way roads. Much better to take the ring road, in direction first North, then East. In detail, click here for details on how to reach us by car from the freeway exit "Trento Centro".
