Travel information to Trento

Given that the tutorial session will start in the week-end December 8-9 and the symposium will be December 10-11-12, we suggest you to plan your trip with the arrival on December, 7 and the departure on December, 13.

Aiplane plus train is the suggested combination. You will not need a car to move around in this old Roman/medieval city. Trento station is in the city center, at walking distance (less than 1 mile) from most hotels. Of course, select the optimal airport among the many possibilities depending on your personal preferences between low-cost and vicinity.

The map below has markers about relevant places for LION 2007. Zoom in/out to see more details about the location or about its position with respect to Italy and Europe. Simply grab the map to move around. Satellite and hybrid images are available by clicking on the top-right buttons.

The nearest airports are:

Bolzano (37 miles / 60 km distance) - only local flights

From Trento to Conference Center Panorama (Sardagna)

By car

From Trento center (or from the freeway "Trento centro" exit) go WEST following signs for "Monte Bondone". Once you are out of the town, after about 500 meters, turn LEFT ("Monte Bondone", "Sardagna") to take the scenic drive going up the mountain. You reach the village of Sardagna after about five minutes. Before entering the village, turn LEFT following signs toward "funivia Sardagna".

By cable-car / Taxi

If you want to use public transportation means, once you arrive in Trento, you have to take the cable-car to the conference center. The cable-car starts from ponte San Lorenzo, which is three minutes on foot from the railway station, (see on the map above), approximately every 15 minutes from 7:00am to 10:30pm. If you prefer you can also take a taxi (tel. +39.0461.930002).
